Indian Hospitals in tandem with Global Hospital's are researching the efficacy of newly invented drug,'Teplizumab' for Type 1 diabetes.Experts say the medicine can prevent damage to pancreas if given in the initial stages of the disease.It also brings down the dependency on insulin in Type1 diabetes.Reports suggests that patients can be taken off insulin.

It is an anti-body which modulates immune system favouring survival of beta cells,which manufacture insulin in pancreas.This drug is said to be effective in preventing damage to the beta cell.
